Reunions and Sweat Lodges

August 26, 2008

This weekend Yes-I, James Ayotte, Sarah and myself were together again. It was a terrific reunion since the Gathering of the Peace Makers week. I am sensing from this weekend that we all will share this wonderful feeling when we are together again, either as a group or individually. It's a feeling of a growing cosmic family, with all the warm and familiar feelings you hope to get from our own paternal family's. A family that supports and encourages each other for each of our personal growth and grounding at the same time. In this video Yes -I talks about the formation of R.I.C.E The Research institute of Conscious evolution.

We came together this weekend much for the same reasons in North Carolina, to reason mostly as the Rastafarian's call it, but also to catch up on what is happening now. We were able to engage in a sacred fire building ceremony and a sweat lodge which is called the rainbow lodge built by Sequoyah Trueblood about two years ago. The first time we sweat in this lodge with Seqyuoyah we saw this double rainbow form directly over the lodge. however this particular sweat was to unify our intention and direction of this particular weekend.

The following morning James and Yes-I headed back to North Carolina to meet up with Robert Roskind for some further reasoning. We are putting together a fantastic event/happening that we would like to put the call out to interested parties now.

Starting on the evening of Friday Oct 10 and going into the day on Saturday Oct 11 we will be hosting in Connecticut an event that will feature Kevin Tincher furthering his teaching of Grandfather, Yes-I sacred fire ceremony
, James Ayotte speaking on maintaining balance and moderation. mindful music from the MaGeePa Project a hip conscious group of mindful musicians, copy and paste this link to see!
http://www.discoverbluestar.com/Mageepa.htm Some of the musicians will also be here that are seen in this unedited raw music clip from one of the Blue Star sessions see www.discoverbluestar.com for more!

Yoga, food and camping for a small number of people. If you are even a bit interested send us a note now so as to reserve what may be reserved for as little as 20 people. As this powerful event takes further shape we will be sure to let all that are interested know so please keep an eye out for this short but meaningful gathering. This will be a concentrated intentional and conscious gathering of people interested in furthering their own transformations.

I have included a quote which I borrowed from Yes-I's web page that I thought was wonderful and here it is:

The Good and Beautiful
Some people do not have to search -
they find their niche early in life and rest there, seemingly contented and
resigned.
They do not seem to ask much of life,
sometimes they do not seem to take it seriously.
At times I envy them,
but usually I do not understand them -
seldom do they understand me.

I am one of the searchers.
There are, I believe, millions of us.
We are not unhappy, but neither are we really content. We continue to explore
life,
hoping to uncover its ultimate secret.
We continue to explore ourselves,
hoping to understand.

We like to walk along the beach -
we are drawn by the ocean,
taken by its power, its unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty.
We like forests and mountains, deserts and hidden rivers, and the lonely cities
as well.

Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as is our laughter.
To share our sadness with the one we love is perhaps as great a joy as we can
know -
unless it is to share our laughter.

We searchers are ambitious only for life itself,
for everything beautiful it can provide.
Most of all we want to love and be loved.
We want to live in a relationship that will not impede
our wandering, nor prevent our search, nor lock us in prison walls.

We do not want to prove ourselves to another or compete for love.
We are wanderers, dreamers and lovers,
lonely souls who dare ask of life everything good and
beautiful.

- - James Kavanaugh

And speaking of poems Richard Brown sent me this poem written and performed by Rick Fellington two brothers from the Gathering! The poem is called "What if" Thanks you Rick and Richard.

Just before James left us here at Blue Star he was able to share with us one final thought.

Seeing the beauty in all things; Afro Motive and Debris Shelters

August 21 2008
Second blog entry for life is now. Hello everyone, I awoke this morning to a beautiful crisp New England morning. The heat and humidity has taken a break here in CT and it feels a bit like fall. Last night before going to sleep Sarah and I watched the Celestine Prophecy, a movie that much reminded us of our stay in N.C with all of you. They talked about energies that surround us all every minute of the day. These energies cannot be viewed to there fullest for a multitude of reasons. One major reason is our intellect and ego is too much in the foreground of our perception. Through meditation or calming of the mind these energies become more prominent in our lives. These are the energies that are speaking to us on a regular basis, the ones that hold the truth about many things we as a species seem to over look. How to live in a more symbiotic relationship with our planet for starters, how to gain joy from the seemingly mundane, or how to provide for ourselves without taking more than we need from the earth.
Along with the vibe that everyone’s intention helped to create, Kevin’s classes really helped us to bridge these worlds of perception. On the one hand we need to earn a living and support our families and ourselves, but on the other we want to find meaning and substance from our daily activities. By bringing to our attention the respect for our ancestors and honoring the ones who have walked before us we are better able to absorb our day-to-day lessons that life is continuously giving us. We can do this simply by being vigilant with our thoughts remembering to live in a state of first acceptance then gratitude for every and all situations that life brings us. This approach has proven to open the door for a meaningful spiritual existence in a cluttered world of experiences. This act of combining the practical with the spiritual truly let’s us find the extraordinary in the ordinary.
Kevin here is teaching us how to build a debris shelter. This temporary shelter resembles a squirrel’s nest, which has been proven to sustain a warm environment even when it is 40 below zero outside! This was so exciting to be shown a way to provide for ourselves in times of an emergency but working with nature in nature. This video is part one to how this is done, thank you Kevin!

When the night rolled in several more interesting talks were held. Yes-I brought some cohesiveness to a small group of Peace Gatherers in the Tipi. This was a small video clip of our attempt to bring a bit more cohesiveness to our efforts, hoping to create a system to propel our efforts from the gathering once it was over into the future.

This night Robert and Julia Roskind introduced Afro Motive an energetic and rhythmic group we much enjoyed! Please log on to this blog and share your stories we so look forward to keeping this synergy moving in the direction of unifying us again soon. Please share with us how you are best coping with re-entry into Babylon. Much love and respect!

Gathering of the Peacemakers 2008

The Gathering of the Peacemakers 2008 Boone North Carolina

Sarah and I packed up our Tipi and headed out the door around 10:30 am Sunday morning August 5, 2008. We left a day early so as to take our time getting into the weeklong event that Robert and Julia Roskind had organized more than a year earlier. The advertisements, subject matter and publicity surrounding this event made it very intriguing. We were excited to go from reading the first paragraph of the web back in February and now the day was upon us.
Neither Sarah nor I have been to a gathering of this length before nor has there been so many interesting topics available for us to really sink into. The drive down was enjoyable and smooth. We took a scenic route through the Blue Ridge parkway. We stopped to take a picture of the landscape and a surreal feeling engulfed me but I knew not what it was. So not paying attention to spirit we jumped back in our truck and started to drive slowly. Just then in front of our vehicle a black bear poked his nose out of the woods and stared right into the cab at Sarah and I. We both gasped and got very excited, we had just seen our first bear together! I looked up what the bear in the spirit world represents; it is a power animal and takes us to the very source of ‘nature in motion’ – the summer solstice-shamanism-the rhythm of drumming-sweat lodges and cleansing-as we meditate-initiate-and activate our DNA to uncover our lost wisdom and soul’s purpose. This was a true sign that we were heading into something powerful there was no doubt. I decided to listen closer when my body was telling me something and to thank the Great Spirit for sending us that messenger.
Upon arriving we were greeted by Robert and Julia and offered some fresh blueberries. We were briefed on how things worked around there and given bracelets that gave us full access to the meals, shows and events. We headed out to find where we wanted to set up camp and we found a nice quiet place just behind the main field to set out Tipi up.
Just to give you an overview how the days were to unfold; breakfast at 8 then a 9:30 fire circle, Tata Pedro Cruz would hold the sacred ceremonies while Danny Diaz the Native American flute player would serenade the spirits that surrounded the events, followed by morning workshops. Lunch at 12:30 followed by afternoon workshops. There was always time for an afternoon break; we liked to squeeze in quiet time in our Tipi. The energy especially at night around the fire was incredible, surrounded by so many similar minds we loved the short breaks from the gatherings were great time for reflection. Of course we would finish the meals out with a fantastic dinner. This of course rolled us into some fantastic music from many different artists live on the main stage.
The dining hall was a great place to mingle and sit with different people almost every meal! We all shared stories and passed on information about which instructor we liked and what we’ve learned. We talked about each other’s paths and also spoke a bit of our own talks that some of us organized within the community. This is where some of us put together what you are reading here. Some of you I have not yet been in contact with since the Gathering and this may be the first time you are hearing from us. Please take this opportunity to contact us and rejoin the community, we need you! It was real synergy a temporary place of Zion.
Roskind set it up so that we would have a different conscious band each and every night. The band would perform their hearts out from 8 to 10:30. Like Roberts said we didn’t pick the band the band picked themselves”. I was able to capture a few songs with my camera that I will post here to give you a flavor. After the show there was core classes, led by Roskind around the fire circle. This type of vibe continued from Monday evening till the following Sunday morning.
Each day a new experience and every moment growing closer to the tight knit conscious community of less than 125 people. This was Zion on earth. We all came for something, a closer glimpse perhaps at the real world, to get a better understanding of life and our place in it, what we can do to help this transformation occur or just a place to escape Babylon for only a short time.
Either way we came together focusing on our similarities not our differences. We all helped each other build a cohesive platform in time and space so as to helping each other open our minds eyes to truth.
For now this is the overview of the events. I have yet to get into the details of some of my favorite teachings and things that transpired. The pipe ceremony with Tata Pedro, the spirit breathe with Kevin Tincher, the communion and awakening with Sarah and Yes-I, the signals in the night sky and so much more to come!

I will save some for future blogs. But if you are reading this and you were there, please join this blog and type of few conscious words of thanks or recognition to what we all experienced so as to keep us united as we march on in our Babylonian existences only one day to meet again in Zion! Talk to you all soon, much love and respect, Pete and Sarah
